Robotic Hair Transplant Procedure

Many people—and increasingly women too—experience hair loss (alopecia and/or baldness) characterized by thinning and gradually falling hair. To determine the cause for this hair loss, a detailed consultation about your medical history and thorough examination are vital. For patients hair transplant procedures are a permanent solution to their psychological problems inflicted by this medical condition. With more than ten years’ experience in the hair transplant field and over eighteen years in aesthetic surgery, Dr. Peter Lisborg can help you.

In our private clinic we use two hair transplanting methods: Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). After a detailed consultation on your medical history, we will recommend a method suitable for you and you can then decide which one to use.

Procedure

For the conventional FUE as well as the robotic FUE alike, the hair at the donor area on the back of the head will be shaved in advance. The ARTAS system scans the donor area and examines every suitable hair. Suitable hair will be extracted in a precise fashion by the robot without leaving any visible scars. Our hair expert team will then transplant the extracted hair to the requested recipient area.

The first visible signs of hair growth will appear between three and six months: 92% of the grafts will produce permanent, natural looking hair.

Previously damaged skin (e.g. scar tissue, certain types of hair disorders or also circulatory disorders) may lower the intact hair graft rates. We will, however, analyze this individual circumstance at the consultation and/or treat it with different therapy methods in advance.

It is an out-patient procedure that usually lasts from four to eight hours depending on the amount of follicles to be transplanted. You will be awake during the treatment, will listen to music or experience light twilight sleep. The result looks very natural, since the robot removes follicles evenly and will not be perceptible—only 15-20% of existing follicles at the back of the head will be extracted.

Recovery and Follow-up Treatment

The day after the treatment we will examine the results and talk to you about hair and scalp aftercare. You might experience swelling in the face lasting usually up to one week. According to already treated patients, the procedure is almost painless.
