Eyelid / Eyebrow Surgery
It is said that the eyes are “the window to the soul” and truly, nothing is more memorable than gazing in a pair of youthful, sparkling eyes.
Upper Lid Lift
First, the excess skin to be removed in the eyelid crease is outlined by pen.
Then the areas to be treated are anesthetized locally and the patient will fall into a light slumber. Now the excess skin is removed surgically and – if necessary – excess fat deposits extracted. At this stage the eyebrow is ready to be attached to the periosteum to avoid sagging in the future. Finally, the edges of the wound are sutured finely.
Lower Lid Lift
As with the upper lid lift the excess skin to be removed is outlined by pen. Then the areas to be treated are anesthetized locally and the patient will fall into a light slumber.
In case the skin on the lower lid is heavily sagging, muscle and skin parallel to the eye lid edge will be separated and at the same time possible fat deposits removed. The eyelid muscle is then attached to the eye socket’s periosteum and the area operated upon is sutured finely.
Dr. Lisborg makes a cut in the hairline on the upper portion of the face and detaches the skin and fatty tissue from the muscular layer up to the eyebrows and lifts it. The surgeon removes excess fat before he gently closes the wound. After the surgery, the hair will cover the resulting scar making it invisible.
Recovery and Follow-up Treatment
Swelling of the area around the eyes is completely normal for up to ten days. Lymphatic drainages and frequently cooling the treated area are recommended.
In case the sutures do not dissolve by themselves, they will be removed after five days.
